When Jesus was resurrected on the feast of first-fruits. We find Mary Magdalene crying at the tomb. She heard Jesus’ voice and turned to see Him. However, what did Jesus say to her? Jesus said not to touch Him “for he had not yet ascended to the Father”. Jesus asked Mary to go to His brethren and tell them that he was ascending to His Father in heaven. [John 20:17]

Why did Jesus not allow Mary Magdalene to touch Him? According to Jewish tradition, during the feast of first fruits, the Jews were not allowed to touch the harvest until the First Fruits had been presented to God at the Holy Temple. Thus Jesus had to present Himself to His Father in heaven before Jesus can make any human contact.

Who are the first fruits of Jesus?
Jesus is the first fruit. When He died on the cross, He presented His first fruits, which is the first resurrection of His holy people.

[Matt 27:50-53] And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. hey came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
