[Matt 24:15]
15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand

v15 = “Holy place”. This phrase is only found in 1 other location in the New Testament, where it refers to the temple in Jerusalem. [Acts 21:28]

v15 = The abomination of desolation is a prophetic event found in Daniel 12:11. It has a historical fulfillment. But there is also a fulfillment in the future when daily sacrifices will be offered in Jerusalem. Something will happen to the Jewish temple, where it is cut off and replaced by some sort of blasphemous display. This prophecy is important as it shows as a clock marker signaling the return of Jesus Christ.

v15 = Jesus mentions of it as a sign of the end times just before His second return to the earth.

v15 = Hebrew word for abomination is “shaqats”. It means “to loath”, “to abhor” or “to be filthy”. It is used in the context of idol worship, especially the worship of offensive morality and indecency.

v15 = Desolation means “to be in a conditon that is uninhibitable and devastated”.

v15 = Jewish temple in Jerusalem is destroyed since 70AD. No new one has been built. For this prophecy to be fulfilled before Jesus second return, a new third and final temple must be rebuilt. Therefore, when one day we read in the newspapers that a third temple is being rebuilt, we know the Matt 24:15 is being fulfilled. And we will know that Jesus Christ return is imminent.
