We often associate these 6 pieces of equipment as the whole armour of God.
Belt of truth
Breastplate of righteousness
Shoes of gospel of peace
Shield of faith
Helmet of salvation
Sword of the Spirit.
Why do we stop at 6? 6 is not God’s number. God’s number is 7.
What is the 7th equipment? Prayer. Praying in the Spirit on all occasions with ALL kinds of prayers and requests. [Eph 6:18-20]
Why prayer is equipment number 7? Prayer is an often forgotten equipment of the armor of God. But prayer is the most essential equipment to fully utilize the armor of God well. Prayer is the pathway where we gather strength from Jesus
What activates the armour of God? Prayer is what activates the armour of God. We need total reliance on Jesus through prayer. Without prayer, all of our efforts in spiritual battle against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms will not be successful.
[Eph 6:18-20] And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
