Eph 6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one

What are flaming arrows? During Apostle Paul’s time, Roman soldiers carried shields. These shields are often covered over with animal hide. Before the soldiers would go to war, they would douse their shields into a pool of water. When their enemies launch flaming arrows at them, the wet animal hides will extinguish the fiery darts.

Who throws flaming arrows? Satan.

Who is the Living Water? Jesus Christ.

What is significance of Living Water? I need to continually douse my shield into the Living Water of Jesus Christ.

[John 4:10] Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

What is usefulness of shield? The enemy attacks me with arrows of doubts. The shield will deflect all the arrows aimed towards me.

What is faith? Faith keeps me on the firm path in following Jesus. When I know whom I believe, I am able to stand against all of the enemy’s fiery darts.

Why shield of faith? Using the shield of faith that is manufactured by Jesus Christ, with my shield dipped with the Living Waters of Jesus Christ, now I can deflect and rebuke all the lies satan hurls at me.
