1. They’re overly affectionate. Kids who hug, cling, and constantly want to be near you feel emotionally safe.
- They talk too much and tell you everything. Sometimes they over share. When they overshare, it means they trust you not to shame or shut them down.
- They cry in front of you. Tears mean their emotions aren’t punished or mocked.
- They come to you when they mess up. Fear makes kids hide. Love makes them confess.
- They live and laugh loudly and freely at home. They treat every room like it’s their own. Joy shows there’s no tension they’re trying to manage. The home you created is their safe space.
- They still want your opinion and/or approval. Seeking your affirmation means your voice carries love, not just authority.
- They apologize (even if it takes a minute) and seek an apology when wronged. That shows accountability is modeled, not demanded through fear.
